Warka Brewery
The Warka Brewery is very young, at least compared to most of the Heineken Group breweries. It was established in 1975, although the brewing tradition in the region dates to the 15th century. Beers from the Warka Brewery quickly gained loyal fans. The most famous of these – the Warka – is a classic lager, which owes its aroma to carefully cultivated hops, the craftsmanship of hop growers and the passion of brewers.
The Brewery's business objectives:
- Ongoing product quality control
- Shortening batch release times
- Reducing costly laboratory tests
- The ability for Brewery employees to independently expand and modify the system logic
- Eliminating paper-based quality control and switching to electronic forms.
Challenges faced by the low-code team
Development of an expert system to support Warka Brewery specialists in production quality management:
- Real-time processing of data collected directly from over 3,000 sensors and production line controllers
- Providing operators with up-to-date quality information, analyses, and recommendations in a graphical environment
- An intuitive application interface that maps the digital model of the plant (Digital Twins), with the possibility of independent parameterization of the model and shaping of the solution logic by the Brewery's analysts.
Implemented solution
The yarrl low-code team worked with Warka Brewery to develop and implement a MES.pro application on the low-code platform (application development without coding). The system supports independent update and modification of the initial configuration by Brewery employees.
By implementing MES.pro, the brewery received a low-code solution that can be independently updated and adapted at any time to the current production process, controllers and sensors installed in the production lines, and user expectations. The user communicates with the system via a web browser, so there is no need to install an application on user stations.
What do our customers say about us?
„The MES.pro solution helps us keep an eye on product quality. It not only processes data from thousands of sensors but also gives operators info and recommendations for quality management. As a result, the system cut down on batch release times and let us get rid of three shifts in the lab,” says Marek Iwański, Senior Automation Specialist at Warka Brewery.
Achieved results
The implementation of the low-code solution eliminated the need for three shifts in the laboratory and provided analysts with tools to improve the production process.
